  • TB Cornerback #29

Vildor is a 27-year-old depth signing who has spent the last two years with the Titans and Lions. The sixth-year vet never started more than 12 games in a season (2021), and totaled 16 tackles and three pass breakups last season while playing on 244 defensive snaps. He’ll also be a primary contributor on special teams.
  • DET Running Back #13
The Lions trust Reynolds in his long-time backup role. The deal gives him another shot at securing a Super Bowl ring while doing his duty as a seldom-used contributor. Reynolds rushed 31 times for 139 yards and caught 3-of-5 targets for 40 yards last year.
  • DET Defensive End #91
A second-round pick in 2021, Onwuzurike didn’t play much as a rookie and then missed all of the 2022 season plus some of the next year with a back injury. He was finally healthy in 2024 and appeared in 16 games, 10 of which were starts. Onwuzurike totaled 1.5 sacks on an impressive 30 pressures. The one-year deal gives him a chance to improve in his fifth year before hitting the open market for a larger payday next offseason.
  • DET Defensive Tackle #98
A 2021 sixth-round pick of the Texans, Lopez was cut by Houston on the eve of the 2023 season. He then managed to become a Cardinals mainstay as a rotational interior lineman. That is what he will remain in Detroit during his age-28 season.
  • The former third-round pick largely played a reserve role in Detroit, never starting more than six games in a season. Injuries were a major issue for him over his four years in Detroit and that was especially true in 2024. He played just three regular season games and had two separate stints on injured reserve. Melifonwu recorded one sack and 10 tackles in his three late-season starts. The Dolphins will give him a shot at winning a starting job this summer, but the value of his contract says a starting role is far from a guarantee.
  • DET Tackle #70
The team’s “sixth man” along the offensive line quickly developed into a fan favorite after continually reporting as eligible, routinely being found in a route near the end zone from jumbo formations. Skipper has experience at both guard and tackle and also gives the Lions a viable backup along the offensive line should injuries arise in 2025.
  • DET Cornerback #4
The Lions found their replacement for Carlton Davis less than an hour after his signing with the Patriots was reported. Per FOX NFL’s Jordan Schultz, Reed’s contract includes $32 million guaranteed. With the Jets looking to get younger and fellow cornerback Sauce Gardner needing an extension, they chose not to re-sign Reed, allowing him to hit the open market. Reed broke up 11 passes and notched two TFLs plus a sack last year despite missing three games. He averaged 11 pass breakups during this three-year stint in New York.
  • NE Cornerback #23
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the contract includes $34.5 million guaranteed. It’s a good deal for the 28-year-old corner. Davis played well in his lone season with the Lions, totaling 11 pass breakups and two interceptions. However, he suffered a broken jaw late in the year and ended the season on injured reserve. After seven NFL seasons, Davis has yet to play more than 14 games in a single year. For the Patriots, Davis’s health is worth the gamble as they had over $120 million in cap space heading into free agency. Signing him is just one of many moves they will be making over the next week as they look to spend a war chest of cash.
  • FA Defensive End #99
The release of Smith saves the Lions just over $5.7 million against the cap for this upcoming season. Smith, who was acquired in a trade with the Browns around last year’s trade deadline, totaled nine sacks and 35 tackles while splitting time with the two teams. He’s totaled nine or more sacks in two of his last three seasons, and his 63 pressures tied for 10th-most amongst EDGE rushers per PFF’s charting. Smith will be 33 at the start of next season. Given the exploding market for pass rushers, he may still be able to secure a two-year deal this offseason.
  • DET Defensive End #92
Davenport missed most of the previous two seasons but returns to the Lions on a bargain contract to chase another Super Bowl. The once dominant defensive end has experienced numerous setbacks since recording nine sacks in 2021, likeliest to contribute in a complementary role on passing downs moving forward.
